What do you think of the No. 6 town on this year’s Best Places to Live list? What makes it a great American town? Are real estate prices reasonable? How are the schools? What activities and events does it offer? Is it a place where you can live a low-stress life? If you don’t live there now, would you consider moving there? Tell us what you think. The best replies will be published here, and possibly in a future story on CNNMoney.com.

I grew up in Papillion, gradating there in 1964 when it was still a very small town. In the 50’s there were still dirt/gravel streets and it was a LONG way to Omaha! It’s still a great town - growing up there was a real privilage when you look back on it - our whole class agrees on this whenever we get together for reunions and half of the class still lives in the Omaha area. We hope to retire back there some day. Papio has all the advantages of a small town feel yet next to big city excitement.

My husband and I have thought about moving to Omaha and living in Papio tops our list of places to live. We’ve visited there many times and LOVE the people and atmosphere.
The only thing is the keep up with the Jones’s. It seems that if you live in a smaller house or not as good of a neighborhood you might be an “outcast” by other people’s standards. I’m hoping this isn’t true.

I have lived in the Papillion - LaVista area all my life. People are friendly and always willing to help. I just bought my first home in LaVista. In a nice quite neighborhood. Taxes are not to bad but hopefully they won’t go up. Unless we all have to pay for the new Baseball Field. Then taxes are going to go up again.

As a Realtor, I see a lot of families buying homes in Papillion. It’s a wonderful place to raise a family with good schools, lots of parks, and an assortment of kid’s programs and activities. The city has a ’small town’ feel to it but it has all of the modern conveniences. It’s no wonder I bought my house here in Papillion too.

We are movign to Papillion, and well I am happy to learn such wonderful things about it. Taxes are taxes, but try living somehwere with lower taxes and you would be begging to move back to a more civilized area! Trust me, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side!We had reservations aboutthe high taxes, however the lifstyle and mentality of the people there makes it all worth it. Pride in your community! There are allot of really yucky places out there that do nothing to benefit their communities and I can guarantee I would rather pay a little higher taxes than live some of the places I have lived!

I am stuck in Papillion because of a poorly constructed house and the builder won’t fix the problem, the city should not have signed off on their inspection and now I have had to get out of the Air Force and stay here. My house floods everytime it rainse because my builder built my house too low and won’t admit that he did anything wrong. There is no construction oversight in this area so builders and developer do what they want and consumers are not protected. I wouldn’t recommend buying a house in Papillion, NE. I am a prisoner here!

Papillion is a safe place. You can ride your bike in the dark on its nice trails. But, it’s a prodominantly white suburb, which leaves no room for diversity. Hospitals are just great. As an international student, I would live my entire life in this city.

Coming from the low income side of Omaha, NE. I enjoy the small town feeling of Papillion! No crime, clean streets, and friendly people. For the first time in my life I feel a sense of community and belonging. God Bless Papillion,NE,U.S.A..

Talk about the taxes, HIGH taxes!

Posted By Thersea, Papillion, NE.: August 4, 2007 12:06 pm

Welcome to Nebraska, the state with the second highest taxes in the U.S.A.!

Taxes, do we have high taxes!!! Second highest in the nation. Our state also puts college football as higher priority than academics. How in the world did we ever get this rating???

Papillion’s sprawling out to its limits with expensive tract homes. And turning the 4-generation Fricke farm into a Walmart is a perfect example of the sea of strip malls. Otherwise, I’ve lived in Papillion most of my life & like it.

We just moved to Omaha three weeks ago. After several months of Internet search and talking to people who previously lived in Omaha followed by five days of scoping out the area, we decided to build our new home in Papillion. We fell in love with the small town atmosphere with all of the modern conveniences. The people here are the friendliest people I’ve ever met.

Like most ‘towns’ in this index - Papillion is really just a wealthy white enclave on the suburban edge of a larger city. When I think of Great American Towns I don’t think of massive suburban sprawl, and I definately don’t think of Papillion.

I have lived in this town my entire life (47 years). I graduated high school here, my kids graduated high school here. There is tons of shopping, tons of restaurants, and tons of music venues/events. The best zoo in the country is so close, CWS every June, Joslyn Museum, great schools, very low crime, and general small-town charm. You couldnt ask for a wider variety of weather.

Definitely worthy of being in the top ten!

We have lived here for 7 years and we LOVE it. Schools are great, a new shopping center just opened, with weekly Friday night concerts. A new amphitheater just opened this summer. Omaha’s Qwest Center draws some of the biggest names in entertainment. Bike trails connect the parks. The city has just started placing splash pads in different neighborhoods. I could go on and on, it is a great place to live!
